Problem with JVM version

Why is JVM is stll 1.3.1_02 when I have already installed JDK 1.4.2.
Please help.

You can have multiple JVM's on a single machine; which one you use depends on how you've configured your system. If you're on Windows you need to set "JAVA_HOME=C:\<path to j2sdk1.4.2>" and put "%JAVA_HOME%/bin" in your PATH. This is done in the "C:\autoexec.bat" file for Win9x, or in the environment variables on WinNT/2K/XP.
If you're on *IX (UNIX/Linux/etc) you manage this as part of a profile that gets executed when you log in.
If you are using JBuilder or IDEA or some other IDE, make sure it is configured to find the new JDK.
