I am having a Java application and would like to open a browser from it, doing a post at the same time to a known URL.
How can I do it?

I think Runtime.exec("../../iexplore.exe url) should work, haven't tried it though.

If you fire up Explorer with a URL you'll wind up doing a GET on the URL. If you really need a POST, you might GET a dummy page that has JavaScript to invoke a POST to the real URL as soon as its loaded.

Try this open source Java code: http://browserlauncher.sourceforge.net I use it in my apps. It only does GETs though so you might try what the other poster suggested about JavaScript to help you POST
