What a customer says: "Make me a cool wesbite"
What a customer means: "Telepathically determine what I like right now and make it appear on this screen."

you should probably add some nice flash animations and buttons and have FireWorks to do the background.
then it will be really groovy!
aye for real.

So, let's recap:
1) You don't know what you're supposed to do
2) You don't know how to do it
3) Learning how to do it has to be quick and easy
I was going to move this, but on second thought you are indeed in the right forum.

ANS 1: Well, i know very well, but before meeting with my client!.I was told by a third party that i've to developed a web site.I said i'll see after what to do after first meeting.
ANS2:Surely, i dont know how to create a website in flash. But i'll learn flash while creating this website!.It's Just a tool.So treate a tool as a tool!.
ANS3: Obviously, learning any tool is much easier.Especially for engineers, who creates tool.

I was going to move this, but on second thought you are indeed in the right forum.

I should be..
I will try my best not to loose this project even i dont know a stuf like flash, adobe...For two reasons!.
1: It's my learning period. And this is a golden chance for any developer to learn a tool by implementing it in a real world scenarios.
2: It will increase my area of knowledge in tools like flash, adobe etc.
Bye,
Viki.

you need to have the customer show you examples of what he/she thinks is cool.
i havent tried flash yet either because it is so expensive.
annimated gifs and mouseover effects are sometimes cool. pleasing color scheme is good.

Guys, don't want to sound like I don't like Indian engineers. I love them. Here's my story about "Cool websites".
I know a few Russian software companies who outsource software development for US shops, just like a lot of Indian companies do. So, talking to an owner of one of this shops (his gigs: MS, Intel, L'Oreal and bunch), I kindly asked would he consider Indian companies his competitors. At what he chuckled, and said that, although they write great back-end code, they have no slightest idea on what UI and front-end design are, and russians would beat 'em hands down on creating cool web sites (or cool UIs, for that matter).
Morale: go to Europe to find "Coolness".

agree with you.
Really I dont know what is cool means OR how to make some thing simple with jazzy colors.
I am the great follower and demander for seperating views from logic.
And I appriciate these people who are in designing. What a creativity they have. They give you 10 samples of samething with different UI.

I am an Indian SW engineer and a Cool Website to me is ...
1. No flash ... It really gets on my nerves.
2. Few images as possible.
3. Colors that are soothing to the eye.
4. Loads fast
5. Runs on NS

I feel the meaning of "Cool web site" depends on the *content* and *type* of users. If users include president, VP, finance executives and management people then the web site should be more informative, light colored , less images and FAST. If the users are regular guys like us then you may include Flash, graphics and colors.
