I can see from the table of contents that there are some practical problems discussed and solved. Do the solutions follow patterns and explain them as well?

As I skimmed through the two chapters that I downloaded from the James' home page, I found out that each chapter will basically deal with an big example code and the authors are trying to explain the code in details by word by word of the code...
I do believe that the book is based on the practical approach, rather than the theorectical approach on the contents of the book... I guess the author want the readers to understand the codes in details and modify them to use as our own to make it better... They are trying to give us the foundation on each topic in the book and let us build the building on our own...

Very interesting. I have seen the two chapters and really liked the approach. I would have liked to see a discussion on what patterns were used and why.
