hello sirs and madams,
my question goes thus : in the mail that was sent to me, the Art of Java
was said to be by Herb Schildt and James Holmes yet the thanks went to
McGraw-Hill for providing the books.
Please, are the authors different from the provider of the book? If so,
does that mean that anybody can buy a book and enter it for the competition
without being the author or publisher?
Please respond.
Bonne Anee,

Of course they are different persons... Authors are just trying to replying the questions on their books as much as they can... The provider of the books for the lucky draw is the publisher of the book(in this case, McGraw-Hill/Osbourne)...
It means that four books are provided by the publisher to JavaRanch and Mr.Thomas Paul is the one, who run the randomized lucky draw program... Ater he got four lucky winners, he asked their mailing adresses from them and forward them to the publisher... Then the publisher will send each book to each of the winners...
Hope it's clear...
