RIP to The Who's bassist, John Entwistle found dead today. First band I was really into. I was really hoping to see them on tour this summer, thinking it would be probably my last chance since I had never managed to see them as of yet. Guess not. Wouldn't be the same without the Ox.

Do tell me more about John Entwistle. Which of his song number do you like most?

"teenage wasteland" and "my generation" are a couple of my favorite Who songs.

I saw The Who several times and always enjoyed them. They were one of the few real rock groups left during the 70's disco craze. Entwistle was always the quiet one who could make magic happen with his bass.
My favorite Who album is Quadraphenia.

Probably my favorite song that John Entwistle sings (there aren't all that many of them) is called "The Quiet One", where he says "everybody calls me the quiet one", so that is an apt description Thomas. The man was absolutely magic with a bass and one of the instruments true pioneers.
I unfortunately never have had the opportunity to see them. I thought I would have gotten the chance back in the 80's, during the tour that the live "Who's Last" album came from, but they were not allowed to play in Providence at the time.
I saw them on that post-9/11 benefit concert on TV and was absolutley blown away by how great they were. It was the best they had sounded in years. There is a DVD that was recently release of a fairly recent benefit concert they did in London for teenage cancer patients that is absolutely phenomenal.
That's what makes the whole situation even more tragic is that they seemed to have put many of their issues behind them and are playing better now then they have in a long time. Oh well... I hear they are still going to do the tour. I should probably try to catch it.

Hmmmmm, I wonder where can I get hold of this Who album. If not then just look out for the songs like My Generation, etc on the back.

From that album is one of my favorite Who songs of all time:
Love Reign O'er Me
Only love
Can make it rain
The way the beach is kissed by the sea.
Only love
Can make it rain
Like the sweat of lovers'
Laying in the fields.
Love, Reign o'er me.
Love, Reign o'er me, rain on me.
Only love
Can bring the rain
That makes you yearn to the sky.
Only love
Can bring the rain
That falls like tears from on high.
Love Reign O'er me.
On the dry and dusty road
The nights we spend apart alone
I need to get back home to cool cool rain.
The nights are hot and black as ink
I can't sleep and I lay and I think
Oh God, I need a drink of cool cool rain.
