Laloo, the whole world is friendly.Although you can communicate with millions of illeterate in Hindi, rest of the world outside India seldom knows Hindi. So I think we should ask our eldest son in law who is a software engineer working at Bangalore to start LalooRabdi Ranch. We can also ask his firm to make Hindi keyboard although Devnagri fonts exist.
So see you in Patna again

According to you the person who knows hindi and does not know english is illeterate.
Then the people who only knows french or chinese or russian or any other language and does not know english are also illeterate.

Your sum according to 'that link' constitutes not more than 11 million .Also considering Urdu as a subset of Hindi does not seem to have any basis.

It has a basis. To understand that, you need to have some thing called 'commonsense' - No you can't buy it on Internet or elsewhere.

I re-read your statement, but still means that being able to speak Hindi makes you eligible to speak millions of illiterates, and that?s all. So, that implies that all who knows Hindi or uses Hindi are illiterates! Well, I didn't know we have more than 2 billion Hindi speaking illiterates in the world.

Just an FYI....There are 1600+ language dialects in India. And here is a list of more than 1000 mother tongues (languages) spoken in India...not sure why only HINDI receives so much attention...i have no complaints though

I think there is alot of scope related to language software, I am not a expert on the subject , but natural language processing software can play important role in India.and we can do that here in India, no need of immigrant visas,H1/H4 etc
Can anybody has a suggestion ?
similar to what CDAC(www.cdac.org) developed(I think SHREE or something), any suggestions?
Ingeneral to what extent domestic Indian software market could be developed? I don't see much players other than some initiatives taken by Infosys/state Govts.

I agree that making a software requires a lot of money ,but I am asking your view about how software professionals in India can help deomestic market grow.Ideas/views/suggestions don't require money
Making the software is the next step, but whats the problem in stretching the heads for the cause of our people? What do you say?

AW how is your nursing home now, Misa
Misa ... In India domestic market after 10 yr will be great but right now I dont think it has a good market.
Reason one , computer comes under luxry item.
Reason two, users are very less(I read some where .2 OR 2%), agree that they are increasing.
Reason three, we need some good laws for piracy.
But if someone wants to be pioneer in the Indian market then he should be able to survive for atleast 5 yr without profit or say with loss. Then I am sure India is a potential market for s/w
If you are planing for some open source project then ...All the best .. I might try to contribute ..

Here's my version of a translation:
The laughter of Hindustani is alot,
Causing many ongoing amusing "chewing overs"
Directing legions towards amusing sounds
The soul of the many for my amusement
Eenie Meenie Miney Mo
Of course it is more difficult to translate since I don't speak Hindi.

Sigh! I expected this. OK. Here it comes.
Here's a hindi poem to cheer you up.
Is a false statement. This contains nothing but English. I shall go over the words one by one. The meanngs are taken from Webster's online dictionary.
Hum
Main Entry: 1hum
Pronunciation: 'h&m
Function: verb
Inflected Form(s): hummed; humming

The entire sentence is an exhortation to all Hindustanis to start humming a tune or something. The final ho was just thrown in to lend verisimilitude to nonsense masquerading as poetry

I saw something in there about public static void main
It must be English. How else could it creep into the JLS ?

Main Entry: 1to
Pronunciation: t&, tu, 't

Maria
Proper name.
Eenie Meenie Miney Mo
Er... Here comes the tricky part. I could not find this in the dictionary. So I decided to refer this to an expert. The expert turned out to be my 10 year old Jenny.

Self : Honey! If said said "Eeenie Miney Miney Mo" what language would I be speaking.
Jenny : It depends.
Self : It depends on what ?
Jenny : It depends on where you are.
Self : What do you mean "where you are"?
Jenny : Well. If you are in the bathtub you would be singing in your bath.
Self : [suppressing an urge to strangle the little genius] Shall I repeat
the question ?
Jenny : I heard you the first time.
Self : So what language would I be speaking?
Jenny : There is no need to shout.
Self : OK. I am sorry. Now will you please answer the question?
Jenny : What question?
Self : What language am I speaking ?
Jenny : You are speaking English now.
Self : I dont mean now. I mean when I say "Eenie Meenie Miney Mo"
Jenny : Depends on who you are saying it to.
Self : What do you mean by that ?
Jenny : Well. If you are saying it to a Japanese man, you would be speaking Japanese.
Self : I see. What if I were saying it to a Korean?
Jenny : Well then you would be speaking Korean.
Self : I fail to see the logic in this.
Jenny : What does "logic" mean?
Self : [grinds his teeth] That is neither here nor there.
Now will you please answer the question?
Jenny : Stop shouting, will you ?
Self : Ok. I am sorry. What if I said this to a penguin?
Jenny : [giggles] Well, then you would be a silly goose.

I give up. Can we make a deal? Could you just delete the last line and leave the rest?

Oh no Lalooprasad! You are wrong! I thought that it was English also at first . But then when I went to translate it - I found each and every one of those words has a meaning in Hindi . . . well except for Maria and that Eenie Meenie Minie Mo part .
Of course many of the words had LOTS of meanings in Hindi - so I got to PICK which interpretation I likes best .
Yep - I like my translation MUCH better than yours.

As I am now member of AG
Arre Bahaiya Humm Toh Purab UP Se Hee Hai ...
Woh Kahte Hai Ne Kee Sardar, Aaloo Aur Jaunpur Ka Aadmee Duniya Ke Har Kone Mein Milta Hai
(Arre Brother, I am from eastern UP... It is said that you can find Sardar, Potato and a guy from Jaunpur anywhere in world )
Lekin Baat To Sach Hai Kee Hum Sab Bharatwasi Ek Hai
(But this is true that we all Indian are one)
AW as I am fan of Ash , I liked movie very much at the same time it was hurting that Bansali cashed the name of Sharat Chandr's Devdas. It could have been Ramdas OR Bhagwandas also as it has nothing from original Devdas.
AW Happy friendship to all
What no one is here from chumma simbly from south??
