Anyone who loves this game, please put in your name and location. Of particular interest would be people who play it in the office.

Used to play it all the time. Got very good at it and could beat everyone in the office.
And then I got laid off

i used to play it some many years ago. i was only good as goalie. if i played forward i just flailed around hoping to get lucky. i only had control with the more limited number of men.

I believe there is a 'foos circuit' in the US, but I'm not sure it can support profesionals yet.
We have a table back at the main office. but it's getting a bit old now. We did have plans to import a Tornado from the states (drool) but then the arse fell out of the market.
The previous company I worked for (during the boom) had world-wide offices with tables in them all. None were Tornadoes though. You'd have to play on one to believe it.
We had a tradition of 'named shots' ie, you had to try to create your own named shot, a different type of shot that no-one had seen before then you got to name it.
My favourite was 'The Move'. usage: do the move, do the move!
Ball sits directly in front of one of the attackers, defender is directly in front protecting the goals.
Get the attacker and do a circle around the ball (without touching it) then hit it straight into the open goal, since the defender has moved out of the way for a reason that we never fully understood.
Wierd how often it worked.

Is foosball something like table-soccer?
I like table tennis much more.

What worked for me was speed and mock passes. Keep passing all the time and then ram it in right down the middle.
Worked all the time.

But (and no judgement on your ability) I find it lacks finesse. We've had attackers that just pass it quickly between two forwards, back and forward etc etc, and its just a brute force approach to attacking.
Try the 'pass through', from the midfielders to the forwards, then hit it with the forwards, changing the angle at the same time (don't trap with the farwards, just hit-on). Hard to get right but almost impossible to stop since the defender has to be in position to stop the second shot before the first is played.

No, no, no ... it's called "table football", or "table footie".

There is a tornado table in our office too! We just held a competition within our group and turned out that more than two handful actually participated, much above our expectations. Now a days it has caught on with a lot other people too. it sure is addictive. By the way, i'm a goalie and they call me "The Wall" and i love it. i also shoot long range!

Tornado in the office. I'm filled with envy!
Two shots to try from defence:
Hit it back from the defenders to the keeper and take a shot with the keeper. (its a bit easier since the keeper is further from the opposition attackers)
"The Melvin" - try to score a goal with the defenders by hitting it backwards and bouncing off the back wall.
Have you seen the sample movies from the foosball.com site?
