i have never been able to figure out who would buy them. do people actually believe that crap? i saw a headline yesterday "o j simpson murder confession on tape..FBI re-opens investigation". that is totally absurd. why would the FBI re-open an investigation when the person cannot be tried(in the US if you are found not guilty they cannot charge you again). a while back they had a story about a baby born with antlers. on the cover was a picture. we arent talking little nubs, this was a huge rack of antlers.
I read that article and you're right... now that I think about it, he couldn't have been born with a rack of antlers like that. They would have taken at least 6 months to a year to grow in. They must have superimposed the antlers from his older brother or father onto him. To be honest I don't even think have value as entertainment, I just feel sorry for people who do read them and believe them.
The media is built on sensationalism. I used to think of CNN as being very objective, but now I have changed my mind. They just care about viewer ratings.FOX is the same too. That Geraldo guy is a joke. BBC is more objective, when it comes to foreign affairs.
I had some neighbors (back in my college days when I was poor & not living in the best place) who just loved these papers! They would read them on the nights their were no Bingo games. Isn't it scary to think that there is this subculture of people who can't wait for the National Enquirer and play Bingo? What is even more scary is that I actually lived with these people!
They weren't very bright, but they were very, very big. Ad contrast:
