Goal: have ssl certificate to be used with my Resin server so that there's no popup saying "Do you wish to trust these bastards?".

Is there any way to accomplish that goal without having to pay a shitload of money to some company for a 2-second task of signing your certficiate?

In short - no. If you're providing any kind of public service that you want encrypted, you'll have to pony up the dough. If you know who your users are however, sort it out with them so that they know to trust your certificate.

No I don't know who my users are. All I want is for my users not to see "do you wish to trust them" box EVER. Can this be accomplished without $$$?
