Liberty Mouse: A Symbol of American Tradition

Well, I think the spammers finally won. After mistakenly reading a piece of spam before deleting it, I am considering buying this obviously high quality product they are hawking because it so much appeals to my sense of patriotism. In fact, I can think of no better way to express my love for this country than by proudly displaying a liberty mouse. After all, it is a "symbol of American tradition"!

And the best part is it comes with revolutionary features which allow this patriotic mouse to kick the ass of those other, obviously Communist inspired mouse designs. For one thing it...

I know, I agree... that is truely revolutionary. But you haven't seen anything yet, because as can be clearly seen in this picture, it also includes a left side button!!!

And that is exactly why you know this is one ass-kicking American inspired product, because it can only comfortably be used by right-handed people. As we all know, left-handed people are all Communists and terrorists anyway, who revel in their "leftness".
So I urge all true Americans (and those who don't want us to bomb their country back into the stone age) to rush out and send these anonymous people your credit card number. Because if you don't use the Liberty Mouse, you must be "one of them"!

But the fine print probably says:
Assembled in Ukraine with Chinese components.

So what do you suppose that blue button-like thingy on the right side of the mouse is, anyway? A decoy, perhaps.
But wait, I see a problem:

The sensor may also have difficulty tracking on highly repetitive patterns (e.g., some printed photographs from magazines or newspapers)

This seems to suggest that if we were to place Liberty Mouse on a mousepad emblazoned with the US flag, it may fail to operate correctly due to the repetitive nature of the pattern. Clearly, this is unacceptable, and I must delay my purchase of this fine product until I receive assurances of its compatibility with other similarly patriotic peripherals.

Well, since the "Liberty Mouse" is obviously just an Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical with a paint job, I imagine it says "Made in China" on the underside, just like mine does.

Hah! I knew by your disparaging remarks about Liberty Mouse that you must be a Communist! I bet you're left handed too!

Whacking a flag on something and calling it the "America <something>" (or liberty in this case) always seems to me to be incredibly weak marketing. Do Americans really fall for this?

I am in awe of your deductive abilities, Mr. Menard. Especially after I so carefully concealed that information in my past posts.

I expect (or at least hope) that the majority would agree with your assessment. I would. But I'm sure some people have bought such things. I actually considered getting a couple as gag gifts for people, but decided not to. Other than the gag gift market, since 9/11 there was of course a rise in popularity in the US for US flag images in various forms. There was an even sharper rise in attempted marketing of US flag images, as various losers attempted to cash in on this phenomenon.
I note that the Liberty Mouse price is actually a bit cheaper than the normal IntelliMouse Optical price. This makes me think that they made too many of the damn things and are now stuck trying to unload them.

Try living in the redneck territories! I bet they could sell their surplus here and then some.

A mouse is far more decent than a few things I have seen with stars 'n stripes
