How many of you have the courage to confess that you posted anonymously along with anonymous name you have used in the past. Any starter?

Well, I did for fun. Why do you think it takes courage to admit it? Unless someone posted someting offensive/provocative anonymously...

Me too. But I always make sure the M.D. regulars knew who I was. I have a mortal fear of someone I know stumbling on one of my M.D. posts. I pretend to be an intellectual in real life. We dont want to give the game away now, do we?

I post as anonymous all the time
I do not have the same views as most of the people in this forum have and my views are not neccessarily politically correct so in order to avoid being bashed by ignorant people I usually do not post with my real name. Actually, usually I refrain myself from posting at all. I just don't want to waste my energy trying to convey my veiws to people who refuse to hear and understand someone else's views especially if they are not the same as theirs.
This relates more to the political discussions that are now gone.
I also think that anonymous posting should be allowed in Jobs Discussion forum. Most of the time I would post there but I don't because I wouldn't want my bosses to see some of my views/posts.

I've never posted anonymously. Rufus Bugleweed is as anonymous as I need to be. I don't care if people hate me or hate my opinions.. What I love about this place is I always get to finish my sentences.
How many of you are going to admit to multiple identities? Do you argue with yourself?

Usually, the people who say this are people who don't want to listen to other people's viewpoints and get annoyed because everyone doesn't immdeiately see the "brilliance" of their opinions.

I see smart ass Thomas Paul in action again.
I am just saying that I would rather not waste my energy and discuss certain issues with people who are not thoroughly informed about those issues even though they "firmly" believe that they are.
Could it be that you are one of them?

In psychiatry, posts like that one are referred to as "projection". In Shakespeare the phrase is, "me thinks he doth protest too much."
And watch your language or you will be purged.

Because they were rude. If you have something important to say, say it politely. And frankly, posting with a registered account would help, since once one anonymous poster starts being rude, all anonymous posts in the area start becoming suspect.

Your "smartass" was ruder than what had gone before, and subsequent deleted posts maintained that level. If you want to demonstrate how rude you think Thomas is being, do so by being less rude than him, not more (or equal). It's always possible for two people to provoke each other, and I really don't care to referee each point blow by blow to figure out who started something. If you don't want your posts deleted, don't post insults.

Very interesting thread. Even more interesting when I discovered that every single message in it came from Thomas Paul's IP address!!!
Notice you never see anyone in this forum in the same room at the same time?
Will the real Thomas please stand up?

I wonder how you checked IP addresses since they are blocked to anyone other than sheriffs and bartenders. But in actuality they aren't all from my IP address even though it isn't particularly hard to spoof an IP address.

Lately, almost all the threads her e in MD, ends up unpleasantly over some issues . Anyway, back to the original question, Yes, this is not my actual name!
I used to post with my real (really REAL) name in here for couple of years, but then I thought, may be I shouldn't ! (for some reasons of course )
Meanwhile, Is Jason Menard really Tomas Paul? I don't think so. Not that I have any strong clues to believe either way, but from what I remember,
Tomas Paul 'was' and 'is' 200% against H1B, where as at times Jason Menard could live with that idea of H1Bs, at least until everything went wrong and not only H1B people but also the jobs started going to those countries from where most H1B's came from.
Jason Menard is totally interested in Politics, big-time patriotism etc, where as Thomas Paul seems to be a bit matured and considerate on those issues. May be a little bit too matured and slightly partial? Isn't that why he decided to close all the thread discussing politics and religion shortly after Sep11th, and again lately going a bit soft like 'Okay.. lets wait and see which way this turns... if it turns nasty (read anti-american), 'make no mistake' I am at it'!
No offence meant to anyone here, alright? By any standard Javaranch MD is the most enjoyable BB so far in my experience and that credit goes to a bunch of people including Thomas Paul!

Reading through this thread, I am not sure Thomas Paul is a real person any more... Rather he seems to be an emanation of collective spirit of moderatorships and an archetypical fugure to blame for everything that ever happened, happens or going to happen here.

There are two categories of people who can decide and close threads: moderator of this forum and sheriffs. If my memory serves me right, Thomas Paul never moderated MD, not shortly after Sep11th anyway, and he was appointed as a Sheriff only on April this year. There was no way for him to close threads shortly after Sep11th. He could "decide" to close them, but he would have to ask somebody else to perform an actual closure, so he at least is not the only person to blame.
Younes, if "E-mail notification" option is turned off in Thomas profile, he could not know that you sent him a PM, if he doesn't check his PMs regularly. You could probably contact him by E-mail. Also, he's been working on moving our site to Jive yesterday and today, so it's possible that he didn't have time to respond yet.

Okay, I am taking the liberty to assume that I am pardoned for that silly (uhh) mistake!
A new doublt flashes now.. So Jason Menard is real, but Thomas Paul is not? Is Thomas Paul and American avatar of a Russian XML expert?

All I'm doing is trying to do what the owner of this site wants, which is to keep this place friendly. Perhaps we need to go bacak to closing all political threads in MD.

That's OK. If everyone wants to blame me for everything that happens in MD, I can live with that. That's because unlike so many of the posters in here, I don't take "Meaningless Drivel" seriously.

I've never posted annonymously, if I did I'd forget who I posted as and not be able to follow the thread anymore - or I'd end up in an arguement with myself

I remember not to far back some anonymous girl posting that she was having relationship problems with her boyfriend. I stepped in under the same anonymous name and said something like I came home from lunch and caught my boyfriend sleeping with my mom and some other ridiculous stuff. People thought it was real for awhile until she returned and set it straight. I think I did it cause I was getting annoyed with anonymous posters at the time.
