This whole middle east thing is getting a little tiring and seems like after a while it comes down to "yah, well my dad can beat up your dad". So let's brain storm for new ideas for debating. Topics should be a little lighter so please no middle east or religious stuff. Once we accumulate a list, we can start arguing till the cows come home.
If no good topics arise, I guess it's back to the middle east...

I wish the good old times were back. Times when we could discuss middle-east .
At least if we discuss about global warming or the depletion of the ozone layer, I could bring back the discussion to the USA (Kyoto) and then with some luck to the middle-east.
Btw, did you know that even agriculture and breeding reduce the ozone layer? It's better to eat chickens than beef! One pound of chicken is less damaging than one pound of beef.
We have new habits to take, if we don't want to devastate the earth.

It has been my impartial observation that for every scientist who released a study on the status of the ozone layer - that the ozone layer problem has increased by at least 1%.
Cause and effect.
Therefore it is time that we quit allowing scientists to release such studies - and the problem will be solved .

I'm for new topics, but I don't think that there was anything wrong with the middle east debates. I think any debate that is important is not easy. I think a list is a great idea, but I am sure that the best ones on that list will go much like the middle eastern debates, unless of course, we want to debate about something like animal testing (no offense to animal lovers), but I do not see many people joining in on that debate. I think most people, including me, would just put in their two cents and leave the discussion.
Anyway, you started a good list Jamie. I think capital punishment could get fairly heated.

Which came first -- the Chicken or the Egg?
evil laugh now I'll just sit back and wait for the rampant debate to begin.

The egg came first, of course.
Oviparous dinosaurs existed as early as the Triassic period, while the earliest known avian ancestor, the Archaeopteryx appeared in the Jurassic.

I think the mideast debates are healthy. Could there be a disclaimer with the friendly place business - " except for meaningless drivel ".
I wonder if anybody around here would defend lawyers against the charge that they are blood sucking leaches and a burden on society.
