I have a question:

what does everyone use for a file backup??? I'm hoping for an open source solution, created in Java with some scripting and it has to be automated so I can schedule it for a late night transfer.

The backup system I am looking for is for Java files (code & archives), in addition to image files and pdf documents. My scripting skills are minimal and degrading. Hopefully there is an application out there fulfilling my needs! Basically, I need something that will copy a folder on a win2k machine and then transfer it to another machine on my network.

Any ideas or possible coding tips???

This is probably not a Java topic, but I use rsync which is open source, scriptable and available under windows as part of the cygwin suite of tools.

I already moved a previous incarnation of this topic to General Computing here. Chris, if a moderator moves your thread, it's because it was in the wrong place. If you disagree, you can contact the moderator, but please don't just pollute the forum with more copies of the same thread. Thanks for understanding.

I'm closing, rather than deleting, this copy, because it's got a reply in it.
