I don't know what classes to use for this...

I need to build a client app (executable JAR file) to check a cfm page (port 80) web page, get the data off that page (displays a date), then if I can hit that page I need to hit another page (on a specifiable port), and then that returns another URL to go to. If I can use just a dialog box to enter and display information, then use some web access classes to work in the background. I can do it by hand in my browser, I just need a automated way to test this process on various networks. Creating a log file or errors is a bonus, too.

Have you tried java.net.URL?

Try java.net.HttpURLConnection to communicate with the webpage (send requests and read out the response). In Combination with java.net.URL also non-conform Ports are possible.
