Cats rule! They're elegant, pretty, clean, VERY affectionate when they happen to be in the mood, independent and arrogant. I wouldn't mind being a cat myself.

It all depends on the lifestyle you lead. I live in a 2 bedroom apartment, no room for a dog (it wouldn't be right.... they need a yard to run around in). My cats are great. They're independent, I can leave them alone for the weekend if I need to -- and they're pretty dog-like in their own ways (I've leash-trained both of my cats, they love going for walks)).

One of my favorite quotes:

To keep a proper perspective on yourself everyone should have:
A Dog that worships you, and
A Cat that ignores you.

Also - the difference between cats and dogs:
A Dog thinks "you feed me, you provide shelter for me, you groom me, you must be a GOD!!

A Cat thinks "you feed me, you provide shelter for me, you groom me, I must be a GOD!!

Try to go away for a weekend without your dog. With cats, just leave some extra food and water and they are happy to be rid of you.

With a cat, I'd want to leave. With my dog, I like staying home.

It has been said: "A long time ago, cats were worshipped as gods.
They have not forgotten this."
