If I wanted to just insert a println in some method and print out the chain of methods that were involved in calling that method, how would I do that? Or is there no way? I know I can print a stack trace if there's an exception, but this is for when there is no exception.

Nothing prevents you from writing

new Exception().printStackTrace()

and not throwing the Exception object!
