we have a App.class(in java),we want it to be invoked after every five day automatically. how to do it? first we want to implement it in a windows machine(a scheduled task in registry).we want to do it programatically
that is at the time of installation the program should register itself as
a scheduled task.
can it be made cross platform? how?

I don't know how to register it in windows.

For a cross-platform - solution, you could use 'at' or 'cron' on linux (and perhaps other unix-like) systems.

If you detect the system, it should be possible, to use the a method, appropriate to each system.

Another solution could be the project 'quarz' (or 'quartz'?), which is a java-scheduler. You could create an Application, based on this library, which starts your App, and moved your problem from creating an cross-platform scheduling to an cross-platform autostarting for that scheduler.
