Hi all, I have been trying for a job since 1 year, no luck. I have 4 years IT experience NOT in US, I worked till August 2000. I got a gap of more than 2 years and I am afraid to put any other projects that I have not done in my resume. Is what I am doing correct? Or should I update my resume and show that I am working till date, atleast to get an interview? I have 3 java certifications and completed 1st part of Java Architect certification. Anyway, it seems uncertain to me when I will get job. So, I need advice from you as to what to do next? I have 3 choices. 1. Change profession and go to Banking side, do Teller/Customer Service Representative. 2. Do Oracle DBA certification 3. Do MS Computers. Which one should I choose? I already applied to many banks, but even banks seem to be rejecting me. Will DBA certification do any favor in getting job? Thanks for your time in reading this and replying. Thanks a lot.
Nah, Bahamas would have to be the third option. The second option would be to register and post the question to the correct forum. Failing that, I'd go somewhere a little less intense. Traveling within the same state or a shorter distance so that you don't have to feel so pressured to have fun.
If you can afford it, an Oracle DBA certificate rounds out your portfolio. Working an open source project might help. Starting your own business serving the ordinary needs of your neighbors, could be very rewarding.
first of all, its not just you. jobs are scarce. second, gaps in employment do look bad. it might be a good idea to change the style of your resume layout. instead of "did this and that for so and so from 1996 to 1999", say "4 years experience doing such and such for so and so" what i mean is dont use a chronological style. if you look in a resume writng guide you will see other styles of resumes that are used.
What I can say is to write a resume and cover letter saying about your personality instead of what you have accomplished. You might have better luck this way. And get yourself in heavy debts or financial burden, state them in your resume. Otherwise wait for 10 years when China become as developed as Singapore, then China economy will go downhill. While during this 10 year period, Singapore or the US would have developed a new economic model or technological breakthrough to propel their economy forward. Anyway meanwhile please read the post An Upcoming Incident by I'm Feed TheCows and participate enthusiastically in that post. Thanks you very much.
He puts the "turd" in "saturday". Speaking of which, have you smelled this tiny ad?
