I have set my JButton to be disabled via the setEnabled() method. I had thought that this would render it inoperable. When I click on the Button to test it, the requested function is fulfilled.

Is this using an ActionListener or what?

The button uses both Mouse and ActionListener. The Button is supposed to change the panel in a CardLayout to show the card behind the main Panel. I set it to false intitially and when clicked it shows the second Panel. When I test setEnabled(false) on the other buttons, they remain disabled when clicked.
