Australia are *easily* the best team in the world - I'd be suprised if they don't win it. I'm still hoping England will win something, sometime, somewhere...

Australia should have things easy. India with poor bowling side will have a tough time even if it posts big totals.

Ah well, I agree with you there. Especially considering the fact that this is going to happen in South Africa, where pitch is livelier, lot of bounce, and less spin etc.
But I dont think thats good enough to list India fifth in the list - after New Zealand! Even Sri Lanka has a better chance than NZ anytime in One day Cricket. Pakistans Cricket is in real trouble at the moment, and unless they improve dramatically in another 3 months, and Indian team deteriorate at a exceptional rate, my line up would be (slightly adulterated with patriotism)
1. South Africa / India
2. Australia
3. Sri Lanka/England/Pakistan etc etc

ohh ahhhh ;;;
someone said pakistan cricket is in disaster ; tell u one thing they are never down ; always up ;; u see crusing zimbabwe ; alright they are a understrenth team ; but winning 2 test and 5 one dayers is never a joke ;and they beat austrila in austrila (the under-roof series ); they have the talent ;i know that they are experiementing too much but it think they will be settled in south africa this series ; and u have to know the facts that pakistan have square the series when they were last playing in south africa in 97/98 ;; with shoaib , wasim and waqar on top and now abdul razzaq is now the best all rounders ;;
well talking about india ;they seamed to be doing good forget the westindies tour their was nothing in it for the worldcup ; u see all batsmen scoring even ajit agkarker making 95 ...
i think india have a chance if they bowl well which i suspect they wont ; bcoz u see they beat england the damp england blowers ;; they score runs againts windies no need to say anything about windies blowing line up and when u see the last tour india do of South africa they were crushed ;
i think in this world cup everybudy has a chance even windies.....
my pakistan selection of 15 is
1. saeed anwer
2. Salim elahiiii
3. Younis Khan
4. inzimam
5. Abudur Rarraq
6. Shaid Afridi
7. azhar Mahmmmoddd
8. Rashid Latif
9. Moin khan
10. Waqar yonis
11. Wasim AKram
12. Shoib akhtar
13. Saqlain Mustaq
14. Faisal Iqbal / Misbaulhaq
15. Yousuf Youhanan
i think in 14 number slot they need to decide that they want to take an extra fast blower (which would be Sammi )or Batsmen (which should be faisal aur misbah)...
Srilanka beat South africa with the bogus blowing attack .. pakistan has the best attack ....

1. Austrailia
2. SA
3. India/Pakistan/SL
4. NZ
5. West Indies
6. England/Zim
7. Bangladesh
Austrailia will be unbeatable in SA being the most balanced side in all departments pace attack, spin attack and batting.
SA will have home advantage plus they are a pretty decent side.
India has talented batsmen but poor bowling. Srinath is finished and Zaheer khan is not that mature yet. All others are very ordinary bowlers.
Pakistan has a deadly pace attack and on live pitches of SA they will be very effective.
SL has hard hitters and murli is very dangerous bowler.
Windies has excellent batsmen in Chris Gayle, Chandrapal, Sarwan but poor attack.
England has ordinary bowlers and batting line does not look very promising.
NZ always does well in the World cup. And with matches being played on bouncing pitches of SA their batsmen will have advantage over say Indians or SLankans or even Pakistanis.

Well very sorry to see india going down with their blowing attack ;;;
You see Bangladeh ristricting windies for 267 and 276 ... in the same sub continent coonditions ;;;where as of indian blowers they could not restrict windies batting line even on 300 ....which is not as explosive in the world of cricket ....
now my ratings are ....
1. south africa
2. pakistan
3. srilanka
4. austrila
5. new zealand
6. india
.........

England aren't that bad my friends, one bad series does not a bad team make.
An even if all else fails, I still have sweet, sweet blind optimism to fall back on !
Looking forward to a great competition.

In south asia, you will know one thing for sure that is Cricket. Thats the empact of society on you.
I watch/play cricket but I am not fan of cricket. Why cricket, I am not fan of any game.
I dont know who are in Indian team, how can I tell you about Pakistan.
But one thing for sure I know Pak+India will be the best team in the world. (..but still I know a bit abt cricket, coz I am Indian )
I still regret Jinnah & Gandhi's decision of partition No one is in peace
but this is the way world moves.
But still let me guess...
1. SOUTH - AFRICA/AUSTRALIA
2. INDIA/Pakistan
3. ENGLAND/SRilanka
4. NEW -ZEALAND/WINDIES
5. ZIMBABWE/Bangladesh

I think, Hussain is from Pakistan. Pakistan always tops in his ranking list. No doubt, Pakistan is a good team, but Mr,Hussain..U have a lot of expectation from Pak, I guess!!

Pakistan has all the caliber to reach final !!! NO DOUBT !!! ,
but thereafter, i guess, ... to avoid a 10 wicket defeat ( or by huge run margin )will be a herculian task for pakistan.
But still i would like to see Wasin leading pakistan ... and offcourse Steve leading aussie ... but the second wish seems to be higly inprobable ...
wat u guys say? person of that caliber not even considered to fight the biggest battle of game.
SAD BUT TRUE isn't !!!

I've always thought that cricket was the second silliest sport ever, after american football of course.
But more seriously, as long as manchester united loose I am ecstatic...
Highlight of 2002 -
Man City 3 Man United 1
proof there is a god after all......
