Hi people,
I wanted to know if there is any way to read data from an Excel spread sheet by using Java code and doing some function such as sending a mail depending upon the data which is read from the file.
I wish to write an application but am stuck up at how to start it up.PLease do help me in this issue.

Thanks and Regards,
Sathish Mandapaka

There are libraries that can read Excel files (Jakarta POI and jExcelAPI), and for sending mail you'd use the JavaMail API.

The ODBC route suggested in the previous post only works on Windows.
