I can't seem to find a solution for my project.

My goal is to make an audio appliance. Part of it will employ a graphic LCD screen (small -- like 3 or 4 inch). Touchscreen is ideal...

Most LCD screens operate on a serial port (and USB), but I can't seem to find the classes in the 1.5 API to do this. Do I have to use a controller on the LCD module itself, or can the appliance and java program act as a controller?

So basically I want to plug in an LCD screen to the serial or USB port and be able to output text from a java program... (for a start), input from a touchscreen can be perfected later.

Also, anyone know a good Win32 LCD emulator? I've tried a few... but I just want something simple, also a graphic lcd emu would be slick for testing.

Maybe this is in the wrong forum... but it didn't seem to fit I/O forum.

With a little knowledge, a cast iron skillet is non-stick and lasts a lifetime.
