Just a couple of questions regarding MP3's and JAVA.

Is it possible to play MP3's using java?

Would it be possible to stream MP3's to a portable device such as a PDA or LAPTOP from a server somewhere using JAVA???

Anyhelp whatso ever would be really cool...

thanks in advance.

As Theodore pointed out in your other post, one of our only rules is that you have a name that is not obviously fake. "Ben Cramphorn" fit the bill. "Mr. Ben" does not. (edit to add: thanks for changing it)
As for playing MP3's, JMF is the tool. It's a non-trivial API to learn, but it covers everything: audio, video, streaming, recording and so on.

JMF looks good. I'll try that. Thanks alot.

As for naming conventions. Why not just set screen names at registration. I have seen loads of posts telling people off for having inappropiate names so I don't know why they even have the option to change it in the first place?

What if someone registered with an inappropriate name? We'd want them to change it rather than re-register and lose all their posts. We like to keep the atmosphere friendly around here. On a lot of forums, people use the anynomity of the internet as a license to be an ass. Real (or real-sounding) names is one strategy to keep people acting nice.
We have a specific forum for discussing the ranch. If you have any ideas, recommendations, concerns or comments, post them there and we'll talk it over.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
