Hi, I am thinking of writing a java scheduler to run a java batch job. But it has disadvantages such as if the server dies down, then I have to manually restart the scheduler program again.

Is there any better ways to trigger a job-run than using scheduler? FYI we're using a Unix server to deploy the application.

Any reason why you don't just use cron?
