O for "Optimize". Doesn't do much; strips debug symbols, I think. That's about it.

Well where you read about this option.

I haven't heard and studied this option anywhere.....

Give the reference where you read it...

It's no longer included in the 1.5 Documentation. It was in the 1.3 Documentation where it said it doesn't do anything

-O
Note: the -O option does nothing in the current implementation of javac and oldjavac.
Optimize code for execution time. Using the -O option may slow down compilation, produce larger class files, and make the program difficult to debug.
 
It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
