Java Robots

i'm hoping to a (Computer Engineering) project using Java and i am considering doing one on Java Robots or Java and microcontrollers, can anyone please suggest what materials to study and what topics would be important to look at?

Check out the JStamp, and the various app. notes at the Systronix web site. How to proceed depends on what you want to do and what the goals of the project are. I've built robots using Java and the JStamp (and TINI), as well as using the C/ASM approach. Again is all depends on what your goals are- the JStamp may not be the thing for you (there are plenty of other options...). Hope this helps...

The only robotics I've done is with the Lego Mindstorm. If you're more interested in making something move than soldering, it's a good option. leJOS is a Java runtime for the RCX (previous version Mindstorm) and there's some work being done to bring Java onto the current version of the Mindstorm (NXT).
