Hi,
I have a string which contains "> < " etc...I want to replace all > with blank space....how do I do that

If you have JDK 1.4 or later, look at String.replaceAll(). Does that do what you need? It's a bit tricky to get regular expressions going some times. Let us know - post some code - if you have any trouble.

The replace(char,char) method is easy to use.Note that the parameters are single characters, not strings.
 
It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
