Advice on Mail program

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
Hello,

I need to create a program that will read inbound mail, parse the mail into another text format, and then send that mail along to another email address. (And no this is not a school project). I've developed the logic for parsing the data, but I'm hoping that someone has a thought about what api's I should be looking at for sending and receiving the mail, and is there some mail program that I should be looking at. If you have some suggestions on where I should be looking at Apache, Tomcat ?? please give me some direction.

Thanks,

The standard API for sending and receiving mail is called JavaMail, and there are a few relevant links on the J2EE FAQ.

If you also need a mail server, check out James, which is an open source Java email server. Its Mailet API may be appropriate for your problem.
