Tree Data Structure

I'm developing an application that keeps track of files. The file information goes into a database. I want the database to display as a tree. How do I input the records into the tree structure?

Use nested sets

Are you comfortable with tree structures of Java objects in memory? This kind of thing:

public class Node
{
   private List children = new ArrayList(); // Holds child Nodes
   interesting variables ...
}

If you can picture how that would work, we can talk about how to build one up from a database.
