hi all,
i just want to ask how can i do text mining from a .txt file?
i am using eclipse with WTP plugins to create a dinamyc web page and using Java as a servlet.
I am a noob in using these tools. I really appreciate some helps. Thank you in advance.

If your txt files reside on the server, then being in servlet land will have little to do with the problem. Your servlet can call a Plain Old Java Object that reads files and does whatever it needs.

If your text files reside on the user's machine, then things get trickier. Web apps normally can't read (or write or execute) files on the user's machine. That's a good thing because it prevents evil web sites from doing stuff to your PC.

Let us know where your text files reside. Oh, and define "text mining" for us. What do you plan to do to these files?

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
