Hi all,
I have one doubt! Why Scripting feature included in java se 6. What is need of it.We have web applications like Jsp pages, etc. These web applications ie.J2EE performing these operations more.So why Sun included these feature in Java SE 6 API.

Warm Regards,

Welcome to JavaRanch.

Web pages are only one of several usages for scripting, and replacing Java in JSPs is not a common (or even a particularly good) use case. Take a look at this thread for some other ones.

The world of Java programming is a LOT larger than web applications. Many people find "scripting" languages to be very convenient for rapid prototyping since you can completely skip the compile part of the edit/compile/execute cycle. Debugging is also easier.

Including scripting support is a major step in keeping up with programming trends to keep Java relevant to the real world of programming.
