What kind of access do you have to that machine, and what kinds of services are available on it - SMB, FTP, HTTP, ... ?

If you can mount the remote file system using the username/password, then you should be able to use java.io.File -and related classes- to access the file. If you're not on a Windows machine, you'll need to use the jCIFS library to do this (jcifs.samba.org).
