Hmm, its actually the caption from Kerala Tourism board - "Kerala - God's Own Country". In fact there are many such God's own places in this small planet. I read somewhere that New Zealanders refer to New Zealand as Gods Own.
But, as we normally assess things relatively, by comparing one to another (rest of India, in this case), I guess Kerala deserves to be called God's own because of its lush greenery, beautiful weather, sandy beaches, breathtaking scenery, wild life, and its tolerant, friendly and literate people and high standard of living.
