Please can anybody help me or rather give an idea i could use.
I am building an address book application and i want to add a scheduler that will pick the contacts date of birth and then bring up a reminder that will reminder the user of a contacts birthday once the date of birth coincides with the system date.

i have thougth of using a Timer class and a TimerTask but am not making any head way. If you have a better idea i would like to hear it.

Thanks

Quartz is an open source job scheduler that might be worth looking into. I've had success in using it to schedule tasks before.

What approach did you try using the Timer class? If your need is simple, I guess you can write a primitive one yourself.

And then we all jump out and yell "surprise! we got you this tiny ad!"
