Hi,

I have a client request to upgrade an application. This was developed on jdk1.3 and i have to migrate this by executing this on jdk1.5.

I will thankful to you, if you please tell me whats the basic points to be considered. Will jdk1.5 will give complete support to jdk1.3 code?

regards,
Dhananjay

You can just use the existing code, with the following notes:
- assert has become a keyword since Java 1.4, and enum since Java 5.0. If you have variables or methods with either name you will need to rename it.
- you may get compiler warnings when you're combining generics with non-generics. Read this for more information.

There are a bunch of other things that can go wrong too. Have a read through of the migration guide Sun provides.
