Rueben or Clay??

We are cheering for Clay.
This has caused hours of conversation in our house because everyone ALSO loves Rueben. Such a difficult decision.
Not that there is a real possibility of getting our vote actually COUNTED since the technology is was deficient and they have auto dialers going constantly :roll: .

This is a hard decision, because they are both such good singers. So then I have to decide based on other reasons. Clay's facial expressions really bug me.
So I have been rooting for Rueben.

My daughters would be horrified to know that there are people in the world who don't CARE who wins the "American Idol" competition.
Frankly if I have had to sit through the last 4 weeks of this show - you ALL should have to suffer with me .
Actually last week they had gotten rid of all the fluff and the 3 singers left put on a hell of a show .
Gregg, you will be glad to know that (we think) he has those expressions under control. Not a one last week.
And he can sure belt out a song for a quiet southern guy who works with Autistic children.

Personally I like that kind of music.
But more important for the industry is the little teeny boppers (in this case my daughters :roll: ) who fall in love with the guy and buy millions of records. That would be the definition of "American Idol".
Somehow they don't see Clay through the same perspective .
But then Ruben is the lovable sort, they just don't have a feel for what his personal music style would be. It is one thing to like a guys voice, but much of what they have been forced to sing was other folks choosing for them.
I hope tonight that they just let them "do their thing".

Funny - my girls mentioned the Barry Manilow comparison too - but then they LOVE Barry Manilow . Watched some special last fall and didn't stop singing "Cococabana" for weeks.
Sort of a revivalist thing I guess. They have also just discovered the BeeGee's (through their uncle) and can't get enough.

You're clearly not raising them right. Tuesday night is the night of Buffy, 24, and NYPD Blue. If you have time & VCR to watch one thing and tape something else at the same time, then add alternates Gilmore Girls and Smallville. Why would anyone be watching American Idol?
