Hi!

I intend to have a java program and a JRE on a medium (like CD or USB stick), so it would run on any (Windows!) system. Right from the medium, without any installation on the target PC.

I already did this, but my question is: how/where to get an "official" portable JRE ? Can I just copy it from an existing installation (\Program Files\Java) ?

Thanks,
David

PS: The JRE would be only for running the "bundled" program (via a start script probably), not for using as a JRE on the target system for other Java programs.

Yes, but you should read the license file to check for any restrictions such as which countries you can distribute it in and which files have to be included and which can be left out (may be useful if you are using a CD/memory stick)
