Hi all,

I'm going to develop an application that has Flash in UI layer and Java in Business layer. Do you know how we communicate between them? Or do you know any open source supporting that one?

Thanks,

I fairly certain Flash can communicate via HTTP. So if the Java code is a Java web app, then you can use HTTP.

You can use a desktop application and still make HTTP calls.

Wouldn't it be easier to just use one or the other? Having to run simultaneous Flash and Java processes seems like a considerable overhead (and I'm saying that without knowing if it's even possible to integrate them).

Hi, Vu Pham!

You can integrate Flash by using the Cairngorm Flex framework. Have a look at the following link for further details:
opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/cairngorm/

What you want to look at is Blaze Data Services, also known as BlazeDS.

It requires that you duplicate your model/value objects from Java in ActionScript, and allows object graphs to be passed in binary via AMF.
