Hi Folks:
I'm having trouble getting the Forte debugger going with
Forte Java. It's Solaris 8/Intel, patched with the java patch.
The Java SDK & JRE are 1.3.
Starting the debugger pops up the following in a window:
Exception while starting debugger
Cannot connect to process /usr/java1.2/jre/../bin/java
The message in the output window:
/usr/java1.2/jre/../bin/java -Xdebug -Djava.compiler=NONE
< Bunches of stuff deleted >
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no agent in java.libr
at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadLibrary(
at java.lang.Runtime.loadLibrary0(
at java.lang.System.loadLibrary(
So it seems like it's not happy with the way I've configured
the debuggers. But I just loaded it. I don't know what to
mess with.
There seems to be something wrong with "Agents". I don't
have a clue what an agent is.
Can some kind sole point me at a resource so I can start to
have a clue as to what I'm supposed to do?

All I can say is that mine doesn't work either, except I get a slew of different errors. At least you know it's not just you.
Make sure you change the default compiler to FastJavac as well.
Good luck.

Thanks Garrett:
Sorry to hear you're having troubles. What OS/platform
and Forte/Java versions and builds are you trying to use?
My OS is Intel, Solaris 8, Rel 06/00, patched for Java
and recommended patch 10/11/00, which is one patch old.
Forte java is Community Edition 1.0, build 849. The
SDK and JRE are release 1.3.
I had Forte Java running, with the debugger. But that
was either the late beta 1.3 or release candidate 1.3.
I'm not sure which Forte build I was using.
I have some good news and some bad news:
I'm debugging with Forte Java now. The bad news is I'm
using WIN98 as a development environment. Jbuilder for
Solaris seems to be for SPARC only.
The build for the working Forte on my Win98 is 849,
which is the same as my problem Solaris Forte build.
Thanks for responding.
