While I usually am very proud of America and the American way, there are some details of this society / system that simply irritate me immensly.
1. You can't buy much in this country without credit. You can't get credit unless you have an established credit history. You can't get credit history unless you have a loan / credit card in your name. You can't get a loan / credit card in your name unless you have credit history. Its a damn loop.
2. Every damn thing you can think of in this world / your life has probably some kind of recording system in place here. You have to maintain all these records throughout your lifetime here..
(a) Credit History
(b) Insurance History
(c) Car History
(d) Consumer History
(e) Crime Record (OK! This is a no contender)
(Name others if I have missed any..)
For a country that constantly talks about fear of big brother, I think we already live in a big brother society
3. Unless you live in NYC or LA, dont expect to find dinner after 9:00pm. That is unless you are prepared to eat pizza/chinese. And dont expect any restaurant to open before 11:00am either. Coming from India, where restaurants are normally open until 11:00pm I find it frustrating that I cant find a damn decent joint to eat at after 9:00pm
Anyway.. this is my general rant for the day.
I'll keep ranting like this.. but I still like America.

Then when you establish credit, you're constantly getting loads of junk mail for more credit cards, guaranteed loans, and telemarketing calls for vinyl siding on credit. I don't know which I prefer.

IRS Records, Medical Records, ISP Records, Gun Purchases, Birth Records, Marriage Records, Divorce Records. It scares the shit out of me. I remember the TV series Max Headroom in which a group of hackers who called themselves the blanks had erased all evidence of their existence. Sometimes, I wish that were possible.

Bummer, ain't it? Of course IHOP is always open too or Taco Bell or Burger King.

Consider yourself lucky unless you like Rueben sandwiches or Philly Cheese Steaks.

I'm doin' my best to forget Denny's Quite a few years ago, we were doing some on site contract work in Freeport, Tx and ate at Denny's most every morning for breakfast. Sometimes, the food just didn't seem quite right. One morning, the place is locked up with a big old sign that says shut down by Lake Jackson Public Health Dept. Haven't been to a Denny's since.

Burger King, McDonalds and et all are no contenders. If you actually try eating there after 10:00pm you'll understand why. They basically put a piece of meat between two buns and heat the damn thing before calling it a burger.
Lift the bun a little and the damn meat looks suspicious. I tried McDonalds here at 10pm once and never again will I enter another McDonalds.

Never been to the states. I was always under the impression that you could get most things most the time. I shouldn't believe everything I see on TV
Your rant could be applied to the UK too, especially the bit about places to go after 11pm

I live right outside of NYC and you can get just about anything any time of the day or night.

W'huh? Where exactly in Pittsburgh were you looking?
Next time in town try Primanti Bros. -- several locations are 24/7 if I recall correctly.

[Personal Opinion] Nothing wrong with that[/Personal Opinion]
Everything should be closed on Sundays. Everyone should be home with their families.

I know I'm biased, but I think NYC is the best city in the US. Nobody owns New York, so folks tend to be pretty friendly. There's no way of telling who's been here a while and who's fairly new, (unless they're trying to look at top of the skyscrapers!)
Partying is awesome here, (a little less now if you're a smoker). It took a few cities to make me realize that sleeping between 8-11pm, so I could be primed for a good night on the town, is a pretty bonehead strategy outside of NY!!
My advice is to visit NYC and be adventurous and take a cab off the beaten track and just wander around until you find a lively joint, so you can meet some locals. They'll tell you the fun places to go.
There's also lots of selection in the dating scene here. Screw Marco Polo, you don't even have to leave your neighborhood to get a smorgasbord of babes form all over the world - or just all over the country.

I was with my family. We were staying at the DoubleTree Hotel and every restaraunt within walking distance was closed on a Sunday afternoon. Even the coffee shop was closed. We ended up eating at the hotel.

Well the general theory is that the cities have either an imbalanced population (more women than men, vice versa) or they're full of ugly bitches like the ones on sex and the city.
What we really want to know is - where do you find the quality available pussy. (and I'm not paying for it)

Maybe you're looking for a woman who is beautiful, drunk, blind and on the rebound? As sunitha says, ugly men make ugly bitches.

According to Forbes...
Who cares what they think - on This issue?
Don't know how Boston got the third spot.
