Having trouble with the Point class

I have a Point p and im trying to get a value from p.x and p.y, it seems I should be able to do this but I keep getting an error that I cant figure out:

No variable x defined in class
int x = p.x;
          ^

This is the code I am using:

  private void testLet(Letter let) {
    Point p = let.recall();
    if (p != null) {
      int x = p.x;
      int y = p.y;
    }
  }

Is it possible that Point is some class other than java.awt.Point? Do you you have an import bringing in java.awt.Point? Do you have any class or java files for any other Point class laying around in your work directory or CLASSPATH?
