I would like to know if the book "Java how to program" by Dietel&Dietel is worth buying.

I thought it was pretty good. It has a lot of exercises and questions and that is definitely a plus if you want to really learn the nuts and bolts of Java.

I think it is a bit overpriced. It reads more like a college textbook. I would try Beginning Java 2 by Ivor Horton
