Does anyone know if JAVA's class source code is available to look at. For instance, if I wanted to see the JButton.class file but JButton.java, or does it not exist??

It does -- part of the JDK available from Sun includes source. It's in a file called src.jar.

I just add in case you do not know that the content of a jar file can be explored and java source files easily extracted from a jar file with a tool like Winzip.
