Can anyone tell me what causes a Broken pipe Exception to be thrown?

My guess is that its either not a standard java class or not a BrokenPipeException. I'm guessing that you see an exception with a message of "Broken Pipe".
My guess would be that piped streams are being used (PipedReader, PipedWriter, PipedInputStream, or PipedOutputStream) but not being connected first.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
