Pointer (JDK 1.4) true or false ?  RSS feed

I heard from some of my friends that Sun is going to add pointers in its JDK1.4 release.is it true.where can i get more information on it.

I highly doubt that. Pointers are cool, but dangerous.

Is it really out? I mean, "officially" official? Because I just d/l it a couple of days ago and it's still labeled as a "Release Candidate."

No, seriously - yes it's the real thing. It was annoying me that for the last few days places like www.javaworld.com had articles about the final release being out - but if you went to Sun, the links still were for the release candidate only. Finally, that has changed.

No Pointers (Thank Gosh, I'm too old to relearn pointers) but we do get an "assert" keyword now! Woot!
 
It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
