Do you find this insulting, slightly insulting, yet amusing, or just amusing?

Actually, I just found it inane, kind of sophomoric. Seems like Scott Adams is restraining himself so as not to appear offensive.

I'm not part of the "target group" of course, but it didn't strike me as as offensive at all. I mean, most everyone gets skewered to some extent in Dilbert; IIT got off pretty well. (So far at least.) If anything the implication that Ashok actually can heat tea that way is rather impressive.

I don't think there is , or was any attempt at, any sterotype of Indians as "stupid". I never heard of such a sterotype in my nearly 10 years of IT. If there is any sterotype in existence, its that Indians are smart and good workers. I think the cartoon only makes any sense at all viewed in context of Indians having a sterotype of being superior and perhaps some type of obscure reference to powers (siddhis being the the technical term I think) being developed through Yoga. I know some people resent even postitive sterotypes (can't understand why), so that's why I asked my original question (and also to see how others understand the humor).

Personally I interpreted the joke being that he was so smart that he almost had superhuman powers ( and knew it. )

I thought that Scott Adams got ideas for jokes from readers' real life experiences that they email in, so if anything the cartoon is reflecting whats going on in US corporate life at the moment.

Fairly small-minded piece of humor in my opinion. Then again, if you've seen Scott's wife Stacy you might guess why his work doesn't get as much attention as it used to.

To be honest, I didn't even get what the joke is about Some context that I am missing?

I think the joke was on IITians being too intellectual.[which I think they are.]
As I cant see the face of Scott[face expression and tone will decide actually what he wants to convey], otherwise it is good

How horrible! How can anybody struggle under the yoke of being stereotyped as intellectually brilliant.

I don't think there are ever "positive" stereotypes. If I stereotype you as being intelligent, perhaps I'd be inclined to also stereotype you as lacking elsewhere.
However, IIT is akin to a special interest group (ie, chess club, football team) and not a protected group (based on race, gender, sexual orientation), etc. Therefore, while I don't find the comic extremely humorous, I do not find it extremely insulting either (then again, I didn't graduate from IIT).

None of the above !!!
Confusing !!!
cuz if he was really referring to IIT's thn it sud have been "Indian Institute of Technology" rather thn "India Insti.... "
but thn i reckon he knew tht IITians r smart enuf to make out tht they r been referred to ...
... now tht doesn't suggest tht all those ppl who make it out r IITians .. !!

in my opinion this strip is more COMPLEX (may be in the X+iY form)
thn it looks
