My first was a 1985 VW Van made up like a camper inside. It burnt and leaked oil like nobody's business. I sold it 6 months later but the summer I owned it was one of the best (1992).
Next was an old Mazda 323 1.4. It came with a Magic Tree that I never changed. I moved to Cambridge in (1994) and left it to rot in my folks garden...they were happy. I didn't own another car until 2001 since using a car in Cambridge is like using a wheelchair in a sandpit - pointless.
In 2001 I got a 1996 2 litre Volvo 440. My first automatic. Great car. Bit of a beast (though not what you'd call a fanny magnet ). Had to sell it when I came to Korea. Now I use a 300 ton sub-street transit system. Sweet!

Had a '67 Mustang fastback with a 289, but I wrapped it around a tree before I was old enough to appreciate it. Best car I think was my Electra 225, with the Wildcat 445. What a piece of machinery. 0-60 wasn't anything special, 'cuz it was a LOT of metal to get rolling, but 60-90 I used to blow away Chargers and Firebirds.
Now I'm an old man and I drive a sensible car, an old Cutlass Ciera. It just goes and goes and goes and goes...

I don't like "sporty" or "luxury" cars, so my first car was a 'vette. Specifically, a 1982 Chevrolet Chevette. Pretty nice little car. AM/FM radio, air conditioning, tiltable steering wheel, um, that was about it. I started driving it in 1994 (so the car was 12 years old), but it only had 24,000 miles on it. (It had been my grandmother's car...)
After that, I had a 1994 Chevrolet Corsica. Worst car I ever drove. The whole model line didn't do too well. On a trip back from Boston, the car suddenly started vibrating anytime it went 70 MPH. After a couple of months of troubleshooting, we discovered that one of the valves was gone. (It must not have been too bad a car to run on only 5 cylinders...)
As soon as I found out about that, I ditched that car (only had it 16 months) and, in 1999, got a 1996 Geo Prizm. That little car has served me well. I got it at 50,000 miles and have put on an additional 100,000 miles on it in the 2 and 3/4 years I've owned it.
That's the only car we have (wife and two kids). Next year I think we'll likely add a car...probably a Toyota Camry (which is a little bit bigger than the Prizm/Corolla that we've got now).
One thing i've been wondering -- what is the attraction to leather seats? I can't stand the smell, and you can't sit on them in shorts, lest you stick to the seat and have to painfully extricate yourself. Perhaps I look for more practicality in my cars than others do....

I thought the same till I got the Volvo.
With the air-con I never stuck to them and we rarely wear shorts in the UK to drive anyway! They had heaters in too, great for those early starts i the winter - although the first time I used the seat heater I thought I'd wet myself!
Leather was soft and just felt alot better than plastic or cloth. Durable too. As for the smell I quite like it. Each to his own I guess.

Currently own (first car I actually own rather than lease ) a 1997 Ford Fiesta 1.4.
First car was a 1996 VW Golf TDi, then a 1999 Ford Focus TDi, then a 2001 Seat Toledo TDi (nice thing about company cars, you get a brandnew one every few years, but gets expensive in taxes).

First car I owned was back in India, a Suzuki Esteem. Its slightly bigger than a Chevy Metro. In the US I initially drove a VW Golf '92. Loved it! Would love to have it back..

Well, have any of you tried this mighty machine - Premier Padmini. Well, it looks ugly indeed, but hey, it was a '79 Premier Padmini that I enjoyed drive the most! That may be more due to my age (teens) and testosterone levels than the anything about the car, but I am really greatful to the vital-car-breakdown-recovery-tips that I learned there! I wasn't old/rich enough to own one, but I did more miles on it than its actual owner, my father. Next one was a '95 Maruti Zen (another 1L city car).
Now I drive a '97 Hyundai Accent 1.3 Sports Coupe, and I should say its image does no justice to this car - with the same Mitsubishi Engine that comes in Mitsubishi Galant, it does kick a*se when it matters. Am a happy owner!
I guess I my next buy would be a 2004 Porsche...

Whoa, same here :-) I think the prelude was used as a stepping stone by many people before they moved to the "near luxury" car segment... Miss my prelude type sh, though. Damn teenaged idiots ran a red light and totalled it.. I got 20K back from their insurance though ('lude keep it's value pretty well; it was a couple years old)....

I think it has to do with the quality of the leather. I've never stuck to leather, only plastic. But all in all I'm happy enough with my cloth not to spend the extra money. However, if you get a luxury car, it just doesn't seem right to have all those fancy gadgets and no leather.

My coolest was a '71 MB 220 (here a.k.a as "Slash 8"). An ultracomfortable three-piece suite on wheels.
The memory of the stiring wheel with the horn's chrome ring and the most beautiful dashboard ever, still make me *sigh*.
Watching the the fuel gauge fall speeding uphill was quite a downer though...

The first car I got to drive in high school was Dad's Jeep Cherokee Laredo, a red one with 4.0 L engine, straight 6 and shift on the fly 4 wheel drive. His name was Clifford (like Clifford the big red dog).
Then I went to college and got to ride in the snazzy Septa R5 Rail line.
And now that I'm an oh-so-responsible girl in the working world.... I drive my favorite car: a 2002 MINI Cooper S, Pure Silver with a Black top, 1.6 L, 163 HP with a super charger. His name is Scout. VERY VERY fun car to drive.

The new Citroën Pluriél is cool. They say it's 5 cars in one. Whereas only 3 variations make sense in my eyes.
I'll watch how it develops; If it doesn't turn out to be a pure women's car, i've got to have this 2CV successor.

My first rig was a 1946 Dodge P/U - Black and Red. They don't makem like that anymore :roll: (Actually, That's not true; my first mode of transportation was Snipper: a Bay Gelding, Son of Leo [for those of you who know quarter horse blood lines])
I built a 348 tri-power and stuck it in a 1960 Chev Biscayne - Silver Gray. It could eat all of those factory Dodge Chargers, Plymouth Road Runners, GTX, GTO, Mustangs and Corvettes. Now that was a car. I eventually stuck a rod through the block - RIP.
I now have a 2000 Tahoe loaded.
