I have used Textpad as a java editor and thought that is was good. Recently, I have been playing around with Jbuilder 6.0 and think that it is good as well. I am a beginner java programmer and would like to know what experienced programmers recommend. I am wondering if I should stick with a simple editor like TextPad or go with the full blown IDE like Jbuilder. What do most companies use? Does it even matter?
Any advice would be appreciated.

I asked some friends the same and was advised to use a simple text editor, thereby focusing on learning java rather then the IDE, i was told once you have mastered the essentials you can then play with IDE to your hearts content.

your name is not in keeping with our naming policy here at the ranch. Please change your display name to an appropriate name as shown in the policy.
Thanks again and we hope to see you around the ranch!!
Also, I'm goiong to move this to the IDEs forum, you'll get more responses there, and you'll find a lot of usefull info by doing a search too.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
