Hi,
I'm writing a small desktop program that will be used to help 3rd grader practice his addition, subtraction, etc .
Can you help me with how to make it executable by simply clicking on a desktop icon that represents a shortcut to start up the program?
(one other option I'm considering is to make it a java applet and place a shortcut to the html page - I know that will work fine; but I'd like to know the other way also please.)
Thank You.

Oh my goodness. This has been covered SOOO many times.
You can create a batch file that launches the application or you can place a shortcut to a JAR file which will launch the application via the MANIFEST.
If you want to spend a lot of $$$$$ you can buy a program that converts JAVA to a binary EXE.
See this link for JAR files. (prefered method)

thanks for the info.
I imagine that it has been asked and answered before but it is sometimes difficult to track down similar topics by searching thru these topic threads.

...and you may want to take a look at this quick tutorial on creating an executable JAR file.
